At River Quaggy Press, we create story-based Growth Mindset resources for children, parents, and educators.
Our books are written for children who feel discouraged when things feel hard, who worry about making mistakes, or who doubt their own abilities. Through relatable characters, real-life challenges, and gentle reflection, our stories help children build confidence, resilience, and a belief that they can grow.
We believe that a growth mindset is not about constant positivity or pressure to perform. It’s about helping children feel safe to try, to fail, and to try again — supported by caring adults at home and in the classroom.
Our resources are designed to be practical, age-appropriate, and easy to use for bedtime reading, family conversations, and classroom discussion.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: TOBY SPARROW
As a young boy, Toby’s dearest ambition was to become a garbage man (because he thought they only worked on Thursdays). Since then, he has had many jobs, including: award-winning journalist, youth theater director, author, dragon tamer and (for nearly 20 years) a classroom teacher at elementary and middle schools, where he became inspired by Carol Dweck’s teachings on growth mindset. He met his wife in London and is the proud father of twin girls. One day, he would like to visit the moon.
Toby is Children’s Book Editor at River Quaggy Press.
